Who's responsible
Tern (flytern.site) is run by a solo developer, who is responsible for the data described here.
What Tern collects
Account: if you sign in, authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google), which stores your email address and, for Google sign-in, basic profile details. Searches: the origin, destination, dates, and passenger counts you enter are sent to Tern's search API and on to Duffel to fetch fares; airport, weather, currency, and location lookups go to the providers that power those features. Preferences: your chosen language is kept in a cookie, and any price alerts you create are stored only in your own browser — they never reach Tern's servers.
What Tern does not do
Tern runs no third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking, sets no advertising cookies, and does not sell or rent your data. You won't get marketing email — the only mail is a reply if you write in first.
Who else is involved
A few processors handle specific jobs: Firebase/Google (sign-in), Duffel (fares and hosted checkout), Travelpayouts/Aviasales (the partner booking site), and the weather, currency, and geocoding providers behind those features. Support email to flytern.site is delivered through Namecheap's email forwarding. Any payment is taken by the booking provider at checkout — Tern never sees or stores card details.
Cookies and local storage
Tern uses only what it needs: a cookie to remember your language, your sign-in session if you log in, and your browser's local storage to hold price alerts on your device. There are no advertising or analytics cookies to consent to.
Your choices
You can sign out at any time, clear saved price alerts by clearing them in your browser, and ask for your account and email to be deleted by writing to support. Because searches are passed straight to providers to return results, they aren't kept as a personal profile on Tern's side.
Retention and changes
Personal data is kept only as long as it's needed for the purpose it was given — account data until you ask us to delete it. This policy may change as the product does; the effective date above marks the current version.
